Baoshan Palace

寶善宮

About

Originally a Taoist temple dedicated to the God of Medicine, this site also served as a primary school in the early 20th century. While it is architecturally significant as one of the 'Nine Palaces' of Ciqikou, it is now primarily used for commercial cultural performances and tea house activities.

Tip

💡

The courtyard often hosts Sichuan Opera 'Face Changing' performances. It is a good place to sit and rest, provided you are aware of the service costs.

⚠️Caution Spots

Commercial Alert: 1. Performance Fees: Be aware that sitting in the courtyard often requires a tea purchase or a ticket for the show. 2. Sales Tactics: Similar to other temples in the area, be cautious of 'free' cultural consultations or high-priced souvenirs offered during performances. 3. Avoid Taoist priests who recite incantations for blessings, as they typically charge exorbitant fees.
